BLOG - CURACORN® A REVOLUTIONARY TREATMENT FOR CORNS AND CALLUS

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance therefore biocompatible with very few side effects.

It is available in various viscosities the thickest of which has been tried and tested as an injectable into the foot and is proven not to disperse under the pressure of walking or the forces exerted on feet from footwear.

If you suffer from persistent corns or areas of painful callus on your feet, then I would like to introduce you to a treatment that you may benefit from.

Curacorn® uses established aesthetic procedures and a highly viscous form of Hyaluronic Acid to ‘cushion’ painful lesions, reduce pressure over these areas and decrease the production of callus and corns caused by friction.

Initially introduced in the UK to protect at risk in people with diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis from foot ulceration it has found success in providing long term comfort to people with painful lesions caused by pressure over bony prominences that is caused by the loss of the fatty pad or bony changes. This could be on any area of the toe, the ball of the foot or even the heel.

I trained in this type of treatment several years ago when the go to product was silicone based, however for many reasons this fell out of favour and for a while there was no alternative filler that could withstand the pressures that feet experience daily and stay in situ.

Hyaluronic Acid acts by causing a response by our body that provokes the formation of collagen and draws fluid towards the area. This creates a comfortable, natural cushion between the bone and the skin and can last up to 18 months* in the foot.
