Biomechanical And Gait Assessment

A biomechanical assessment looks at how your feet and lower limbs move and how this may relate to pain or reduced function. It is suitable for selected foot, ankle and lower-limb concerns, as well as some walking and running problems.

Stride Clinic is proud to provide a comprehensive Biomechanical Assessment that comprise a detailed medical and condition specific history, clinical examination and gait analysis.

We use a 1m Footscan from Gait & Motion which is the industry leader in pressure measurement technology for clinical gait and movement analysis.

We couple this with OnForm™ Video Analysis platform which allows us to record and monitor gait. It uses slow motion technology and markers to allow us to analyse the nuances of your gait and we can assess your progress and adjust your treatment as necessary.

What to Expect

Your appointment may include a detailed history, joint and muscle assessment, footwear review, gait observation and pressure or video analysis when clinically useful. Technology supports the clinical assessment but does not replace it.

After Assessment

We will explain the findings and agree a plan. Options may include advice, exercises, changes to training or footwear, temporary insoles, prescription orthoses or referral onward. Products are recommended only where they are appropriate to the assessment findings.

FAQ

Do I need to bring footwear?
Bring the shoes you use most often and any footwear linked to the problem. Sports patients should bring relevant trainers.

Will I need orthotics?
Not everyone does. Advice and rehabilitation may be more appropriate, or orthoses may form one part of a wider plan.

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows the lower legs to be assessed.
