Dermal Fillers for the Feet

Dermal Fillers for the Feet has been used for over 20 years to treat areas of the foot that become painful or even ulcerate due to excess pressure  or friction.

We use Genius Filler Strong HA* a highly viscous Hyaluronic Acid, which is biocompatible with very few side effects. It acts by stimulating a response by our body that provokes the formation of collagen and draws fluid towards the area. Genius Filler Strong HA has been tried and tested as an injectable into the foot and is proven not to disperse under the pressure of walking or the forces exerted on feet from footwear. This creates a comfortable, natural cushion between the bone and the skin and can last up to 18 months** in the foot.

Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance in the dermal and epidermal layers of our skin and is involved in tissue protection, resistance and repair. The aging process and tissue stress reduce the amount of hyaluronan that the skin produces and increases its rate of degradation.

Patients who will benefit from Dermal Fillers in the Foot :

  • Those with acute or chronic corns

  • Those with areas of pressure resulting from bony changes e.g. bunions, retracted toes

  • Those with pain in the ball of the foot caused by pressure or loss of natural fatty pad

  • Those with pain in the heel caused by loss of natural fatty pad

  • Those with areas of pressure caused by biomechanical changes within the foot

HA is deposited into the subdermal layer under local anaesthetic. A sterile dressing and padding will be applied afterwards, keep the area dry for 24hrs. The area may feel tender for a few days. The procedure is then repeated 4 weeks later and, if necessary, again, a further 4 weeks after that.

Your practitioner will assess your feet and discuss the procedure with you. Depending on your suitability and the location of the problem area it is likely that a further appointment will be arranged at a date and time to suit you.

Existing Patients

If you have discussed Dermal Fillers with our podiatrists at your General Footcare Appointment we can book you in for this treatment at a suitable date and time. If it has been more than three months since you last attended, or you have not discussed the treatment before  we will need to carry out a pre op assessment during a Short Treatment.
